Austin!

I had such a great time with friends in Austin last weekend. It was a great break, although I missed H so much. Here are some pics:
There is something amazing about having best friends for over ten years! :)

Hudson bathroom

Hudson's bathroom has white cabinets, traditional cup pulls, hexagon tile and marble on the vanity. I think it will be my favorite room in the house!

Master Bathroom Finishes

The cabinetry is in (see below post). We went modern in the master bath, with wood tile, subway with darker grout, etc. Here is a sneak peak of the finishes. We will see how it looks! It is by far our riskiest room, choice-wise.
And a chandelier on a dimmer over the tub :)

Hanging in there...

Poor Mr. H has been congested this weekend and today. His cough is kind of pathetic and it is making it hard for him to sleep. This morning I pulled it together and made it into the office after giving him a morning of rest to try to help with the recovery process a bit. Can't wait until we are in our home and not having to worry about sharing walls (He has been waking up a lot since he has been sick). The builder is finalizing cabinetry today, and all of the moulding, woodwork, etc. should be completed today. Really hoping for some progress on tile, flooring, landscaping and paint. 59 days!! Come on-it can't come soon enough!

What am I reading...

Since we have lived in the loft, I don't have much housework to keep me busy. So...reading has been easier. Kind of nice, but I will look forward to having a house to take care of too because I love yard work and decorating so much. But, a couple of books I am starting:
Seriously...this book has got me hooked. I heard about it on NPR. Could be a bit disturbing, as it is an entire book about diseases transmitted to humans by animals (including AIDS). The author travels the globe on his investigation of the next big diseases. Spillover. About how those pesky diseases that kill millions spillover from animals to humans. Oh and it doesn't help that during his travels he has a difficult time learning about the diseases because most of the doctors doing the research are already dead from the diseases. Should be an interesting read.
And on an entirely different note: What better than a book that discusses spirituality through a story involving living on a boat with a Bengal tiger for 227 days? Not sure there is much... HAPPY READING

Cabinets with Moulding

And H and Vinny making themselves at home :)
Beginnings of moulding and the crazy tall baseboards.

Kitchen, Hudson Bathroom, and Crown Moulding Going in

Here is the progress. We are still waiting on the moulding for the cabinets, hardware, etc. :)

House Progress

The kitchen cabinets went in yesterday!! I tried to get some good pics, but had to get them through the window because the house was locked. I will try to grab some good ones today. We are expecting landscaping and paint soon as well. :) We are hoping to stay right on track with closing. Very exciting!

Smashing Pumpkins

When I was 12-17 years old, I was obsessed with The Smashing Pumpkins. Obsessed. I always wanted to see them in concert. My wonderful husband knew that about me, so now that they are touring (sans all band members except Corgan :), he snatched up floor tickets. And we went, and we were close. VERY close. And it WAS awesome. He was amazing. He's still got it. What a great memory!

Closing...

At 7:00 pm tonight we got the e-mail, letting us know our closing date on the house. Our home inspection is December 12, 2012, and our closing date is.... DECEMBER 21!!!! This is the friday before Christmas, so it will give us the entire weekend to get "the essentials" into the home, i.e. beds, bathroom stuff, toys for H, a refrigerator, washer and dryer AND our first wreath on the front door AND Christmas tree and presents!! I will be planning ahead to make sure I have stuff to do the stockings on the fireplace, cookies in the new oven(s). And Christmas breakfast ready to go. We can unpack the rest on December 26---to the end of time for all I care. :)
Now if only I could get my porch to look like this in three days....
